Turkish BellyDance Costumes
Belly dancing has its own fashion which started ages ago. Every region has its own belly dance styles and unique costumes. Turkish BellyDance costumes are also one which has its own charisma and it consists of bra, belt and skirt.
There are a variety of designs which are available in this special costume. Accessories are also included within the costume like a headband, necklace, wrist or arm cuffs, and even unattached sleeves. Turkish dancers have the flexibility of showing their full leg and so, gowns and pants are avoided in this style of costuming.
Included in the Turkish BellyDance costume is 6 to 18 inches of beaded fringe attached half way up the bra cup with its center piece draping between the cups. An alternate style is fringe the attaching to the base of the bra and extending up to the back and across the front.
The basic thing in both ways is that the fringe on the belt attaches to the base itself. Turkish BellyDancing involves two main types of traditional dancing known as Raqs baladi and Raqs sharqi. This special costuming must have the traditional look corresponding to these two dance styles.
There is also designer Turkish BellyDance costumes available along with the traditional one. The bra styles can vary in the designer outfit and some of the varieties of bra shapes are half vest, asymmetrical half top/half bra, or there are large diamond shapes on the bottom of the bra.
American Belly dancers had special belly dancing techniques with many revealing belly dance outfits. Some of the common characteristics of this costume are its superior quality, and equal proportion of sizes like bra and belt will be of equal proportions and are perfectly centered.
Most of the time the belt is given a V shape, and the full costume comes with sheer pantaloon or skirt with either no decoration or a minimal amount of it. The dress also includes a veil and the fabric tends to be of good quality chiffon or polyester blend.
The Turkish BellyDance costumes come in various sizes and shapes and they are of contrasting colors and the stitch work is sturdier. Finer attention and detailed works on the skirt, as well as bra, are done to make it look more attractive and designer inspired. Accessories are also heavily decorated to make it look good with the traditional costumes.

What Belly Dancing Instructional Videos Are Good?
Artemis Mourat made a Turkish dance instructional, but it’s more like staged Romani dancing. It’s a GREAT video, but a little different from the old-school Turkish I always identified as "belly dance".
